A yoga teacher since 2008, I have 200 hour RYT certifications in both Forrest Yoga and Anusara Yoga (through Pulsation Yoga with Kathy Simonik)and a 500 RYT Advanced Teacher’s Training at Prairie Yoga (with Lori Gaspar), which is influenced by the teachings of Iyengar Yoga. To complete my RYT 500 certification I wrote and published a thesis on Yoga for Golfers. To prepare for this, in November of 2015, I traveled to Arizona and received Level 1 and 2 Yoga for Golfers certifications with Katherine Roberts. In June 2017, I completed a Yoga For Athletes teacher’s training with Sage Rountree. In 2020 I studied and was certified to teach Energy Medicine Yoga. Also trained in the complimentary Japanese energy healing practice of Usui Reiki, I have been certified in Level 1, 2, and 3 with Tracey Ostrand and Gina Sendef. Reiki healing aligns and stimulates energy flowing through the body and helps promote healing and stress reduction.
My yoga classes are uplifting and energetic, but also embrace quieter, restful, reflective moments as well. Each class is themed and interlaced with breath work, philosophy, sequencing that is creative and progressive often leading to an apex pose, the use of props therapeutically and as tools to make postures more accessible, playlists that are an eclectic mix of different genres and artists blended together… classics, soul, blues, indie, instrumentals, yoga chants, but also meditative, relaxing, soothing sounds too. Yoga for Golfers classes are all level and focus on yoga to play better golf and to cultivate a more relaxed body, mind, and breath.
At its essence yoga is about transformation… anybody, at any age, can be healthier, happier, and less stressed by learning and practicing yoga. As a teacher I work to help students personalize their practices by modifying poses and mindfully progressing to deeper and more challenging poses when they are ready. Trained in Forrest, Anusara, and Iyengar yoga styles, all rooted in alignment principles, I strive to help all of my students develop wise, knowledgeable, instinctual practices and find balance, harmony, and peace on and off the mat.
